Apollo 11 was the historic mission that successfully landed the first humans on the Moon. The command module used for this mission was named Columbia. It was designed and built by North American Aviation and played a crucial role in the mission's success.

Columbia was an essential component of the Apollo 11 spacecraft, serving as the orbiting vehicle that carried the three astronauts - Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins - to the Moon and brought them back safely to Earth. It had a conical shape with a diameter of about 13 feet and a height of nearly 12 feet.

Inside the command module, there were three main sections: the crew compartment, the instrument panel, and the service module section. The crew compartment provided living quarters for the astronauts during their journey to and from the Moon. It had minimal space, with basic amenities such as sleeping bags, waste management facilities, and storage compartments for food and supplies.

The instrument panel housed various controls and displays, allowing the astronauts to navigate, communicate, and operate the spacecraft. It had switches, buttons, and indicator lights for monitoring vital systems and communicating with mission control.

The service module section, located at the back of the command module, contained the main propulsion system, electrical power sources, and scientific instruments. It provided the necessary propulsion and power for the spacecraft and was jettisoned just before the module re-entered the Earth's atmosphere.

Columbia had heat shields and other protective measures to withstand the extreme temperatures of re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. It landed in the Pacific Ocean on July 24, 1969, and was recovered by the USS Hornet.

The Apollo 11 mission and the Columbia command module are milestones in human space exploration, symbolizing the extraordinary achievement of landing humans on another celestial body for the first time.
